The Turtle
- Luis Berríos-Negrón
Luis Berríos-Negrón will present one of his ongoing projects, The Turtle, as a metaphor to address the polemics between digital fabrication, architecture and cultural production. The Turtle is a platform developed for position-takings, for both the user and its public. As an initial effort to go beyond the object-driven use of digital fabrication, the first Turtle searched for context-driven use as a thesis presentation space and library. The second iteration (TTT) worked as a deployable exhibition infrastructure. Despite these different programs, the Turtle is always about mobility, searching to mediate moments of cultural intersection. When in operation, it not only has the ability to bring different audiences together, but also to accrue memory of its experience, not unlike a hippocampus. At its core, the Turtle is a concept that can take form through a variety of different solutions, always looking to deliver a multidimensional platform for the rigorous exploration and documentation of ideas, ever fomenting interrogative design and radical mediocracy.
