Sentimental Value: Clothing Stories from eBay

- Emily Spivack

When someone auctions clothing on eBay, s/he usually provides a basic set of information: a simple description, the size, the condition, etc. Sometimes though, the person feels the need to say more. Maybe s/he thinks the story is essential to understanding the clothing or makes the item more marketable... These stories offer an unusual window into a stranger’s life and the personalities behind the anonymity of eBay. This prompted Spivack to start Sentimental Value, an ongoing collection of stories about clothing she's culled from eBay posts.
