One alternative to a car is a scooter. They've been around since the 1950's, but never hit it really big in the USA. But little by little they're gaining a bit more ground. For some they are a way of life, for others a functional alternative to quite so much of a carbon footprint. Either way, they are lots of fun for those willing to brave folks who may not be paying attention, not always certain road conditions and the elements.
