Ever curious about your drinking water? Want to learn how to find out more about it? Zach Rounds explains what to look out for in this informative talk.

Everyone wants to have a great time in bed, making sure that it's satisfying and lasts as long as possible. This talk will describe what I've learned about achieving mindblowing sleep through the help of a suite of personal informatics technologies that help me better understand my sleep patterns and provide me with information that helps me perform like Rip Van Winkle in the bedroom. I'll share what I've learned from using consumer devices to measure my brain-waves at night and activity during the day and correlating those data with observations from my life.

Edd Dumbill presents Strata: Data in the Dirt at Ignite Sebastopol

Where is here? That place on a map is relative to a road line, which was digitized on a 5-years-ago satellite image, which was ground referenced to an existing road intersection, which was captured 35 years ago from an aerial photo, which was ground referenced to a control point, which was optically sighted relative to mountain-top control points, which were first occupied 150 years ago. "Data Visualization" presented by Douglas Gennetten at Ignite Fort Collins 4 on 03/4/2010

Nic Stern tells us that climate change is the biggest market failure in human history. The externalities that cause failed markets exist because of imperfect information. But there is both too much and not enough data. This is a unique time for indie developers to step in and mine open data sources (e.g. gov2.0) to build apps for web and mobile that bring transparency and insight to everyday decisions. This will expose externalities, reduce corruption and guide us to a viable and sustainable future.
